Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway

Feel The Fear

As you move forward in life and business, online or offline, you’ll eventually have to confront your fears. Fear is natural. Whenever you start something new, fear is right there at your doorstep, lurking like a stranger.

Unfortunately, fear usually stops most people in there tracks. On the other hand, successful people learn to move forward anyway despite being afraid. They understand that fear is something to be experienced and taken along for the ride.

Author Susan Jeffers wrote a book called Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway. That title is brilliant and says it all. The secret to overcoming fear is this – you don’t have to worry about getting rid of fear first before taking action; you just have to get yourself to take action despite your fear.

Emerson said it like this:

Do the thing you fear the most and the death of fear is certain.

Jeff Archer, the author of Sleepless in Seattle, said it this way: “You reach a point where you say – this is it. I’m throwing everything into this. And it’s got to succeed”.

Jeff went on to say, “I know there’s terror in this, but there’s also confidence. It isn’t going to kill me. I may suffer loss or lose credibility, but I’m not going die if I fail. I think one of my secrets to success is that I’m willing to be terrified, and I think a lot of people are not willing to be scared to death. And that’s why they don’t achieve the big dream”.

Wow – that hits the nail on the head for us internet marketers. We have to be willing to face our fears and not let it stop us. I wish it were easier – like maybe taking a pill or something. But when it comes right down to it, fear is part of life and business.

In the next post, we’ll give you a new way of thinking about fear that can help you to take action despite having fear.

Until then, try taking some action doing something you’re afraid of. Practice this sort of thing, and we promise you’ll gain more self-confidence and feel much better about yourself.
