As we continue the internet marketing fear series we want to get rid of fear. We’ve been talking about paralyzing fear that stops you from taking action. Here is another tool that you can use to help you conquer your fears. It’s called “scaling down the risk”.
By taking on “smaller” challenges and working your way up over time, you can move mountains. For example, if you’re starting an internet marketing business, than maybe just taking a seminar first would be the best way to go. After all, why drive yourself nuts trying to figure it all out on your own?
Or if you’re thinking about buying your first house, than sit down first with a realtor and simply ask questions. If you’re thinking about asking someone out on a date, start out by just asking them out for coffee. This helps to get rid of fear.
Can you see how easy it is to ‘scale down’ the risk to something more manageable? In other words, just keep it simple when you’re first starting out.
When we started our internet marketing business, we didn’t know beans about it. But we started out small by attending a seminar. I mean after all, you could just sit there and take notes, right? You don’t even have to talk to anyone if you don’t want to.
But as it turned out, we did talk to people, and that’s how Dan & Glen met and ended up partnering together. Now we are on to bigger and better things. We just keep on learning, doing things little by little, and always scaling down the risk.
What a great way to conquer your fears – just chunk-it-down. Take on smaller risks at first and do them little by little. As your self-confidence grows, you will be able to take on bigger risks. Over time, your friends will be asking you “How did you accomplish all that?”
Master the simple skills first, move through your fears, and then take on bigger challenges. That is a great formula for successfully conquering your fears. Remember, you can scale down and move up!
